It's as much as a three-fold increase for traffic rule violation fines in Mumbai now. The Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 has been amended by the state of Maharashtra so that if you break a red light it's no longer Rs 100 but Rs 300. If you break a speed limit it's now Rs 1,200.
