NHK Japan envisions an asteroid destroying life on Earth

The potential results of a massive asteroid impact on earth are explored by NHK Japan and the National Film Board of Canada in an impressive computer-generated video originally made as part of the Miracle Planet series. In the series' first episode, a simulation of a 500-kilometer wide asteroid -- rediscovered by Pink Tentacle -- shows a doomsday scenario in which a head-on collision would release an amount of energy equivalent to many trillions of megatons of TNT. read more
